Our Client:

We are recruiting exclusively on behalf of a creative Homewares brand based in the Southwest of England. Our client is seeking an Assistant Merchandiser where you will review stock and sales to ensure that stock is ordered in the right volumes, at the right time to optimise revenue, profitability and stock availability across all categories while working with a wider Merchandising and Buying teams. This is a hybrid role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build reports and analyse sales across all channels and actively trade categories in order to maximise sales, profit and achieve optimum availability throughout the season without overstocking

  • Analyse and monitor best and worst sellers and make informed recommendations for action

  • Work closely with the wider Product team to review weekly trading performance and identify any issues and opportunities to respond to weekly trading conditions

  • Ensure department stock targets are met at all times, all orders are placed, negotiated and confirmed in timely manner

  • Ensure all suppliers receives POs on time and systems are kept up to date

  • Monitor delivery schedule

  • On regular basis liaise with Operations team to understand capacity and delivery issues - discuss with the Senior Merchandiser and Junior Merchandiser what actions to take, demonstrate a clear understanding on the impact on sales

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience of working in a commercial environment, preferably within a retail business

  • Ability to manage competing and challenging demands in order to prioritise and reschedule action points as needed

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills

  • Supplies Merchandising and Buying teams with necessary data to enable informed decisions

  • Very strong Excel & Powerpoint skills

  • Commercial awareness – understanding of marketplace and the consumer and be aware of competitor activity and it’s impact on the business

  • Customer 1st mentality - ability to communicate and influence colleagues at all levels of the business to achieve the required results.
